Desert Whisper was only average away but took over after 150m & powered away, had the brakes applied late. Looks a jump and run type that will be winning early in its career.

In a field of 9, Live Lucky started from barrier 12 (barrier issues?) and veered out on jumping but displayed excellent speed to win by 5L in the quickest 2yo 400m trial at Lark Hill in September for several years. Live Lucky ran 5th on debut in October beaten 0.9L & was sent straight to the paddock.

Ginnivan crossed over to lead from a wide gate, led narrowly until straightening then gradually improved its position under riding in the run home to win by 5.8L in very quick time for a 2yo trial in July - in fact, it was the quickest 2yo 1000m trial at Belmont in July for several years. Ginnivan won on debut on the 5th August, 2023 paying $14 fixed odds with the TAB and $16.85 BSP on Betfair.

Justabittapress never got out of 2nd gear in leading throughout to win by 3.8L in the quickest time of the morning (of all heats) on what was probably softer going than the Soft 5 rating that was advertised. This follows on from an extremely impressive 400m trial win earlier this month & has now won both trials to date. Justabittapress buckjumped at its first start. It is worth another chance. Justabittapress went for a spell after its first start & won when resuming 7 months later at Bunbury.

Aroochacha led throughout and was given one slap at the 150m to win by 3.5L in quick time over Elite Fashions. This horse made our Horses To Follow page around this time last year after a notable trial performance. Interestingly, it was purchased in NSW for $55,00 by Blake Ryan Racing in 2021 after being passed in at $100,000, but was in WA less than a year later. It may be one of those horses who always trials well and runs poorly, but everything points to it winning a maiden if placed well. Aroochacha won upon resuming at Pinjarra on the 22nd June paying $6.

All Play went home best under a hold (throughout!) after being half a length off in the run to win narrowly by 0.1L over Secret She Keeps in good time for a 2yo 400m trial in June at Belmont.

Sass Machine led easily & won in comfortable fashion by 1L over Hanchi in the quickest time that we have seen for 2yo's over 850m in several years. There was a further 6L back to 3rd. Sass Machine was beaten narrowly on debut but atoned at start number two leading throughout. Hanchi did come out and win on debut after this trial as well.

Hyperreal was under a hold the entire trial in running 2nd. Lovely work in quickish time. Hyperreal has not been seen again as of the 12th June, 2023.

Comfort Me sat 2nd but around 3L off Indian Pacific on straightening & made ground in the run home under its own steam when 2nd btn 1L behind IP who had been pushed out. This trial went around 14L quicker than the average of the day.

Sweetchino jumped ok from a middle gate to go up & sit up outside the leader, was half a length off on turning, 1L off soon after straightening, levelled up at the 200m & went home to win by half a length from Bronte's Dream in the quickest 1000m July 2yo trial at Belmont for some years. Sheza Chalmer ran the previous quickest July time for a 2yo & it won 2 of its first 3 career starts & was placed at all starts in its first prep. The first 3 home in this trial are worth keeping an eye on. Sweetchino took seven starts to break her maiden status, finally doing so at York winning by 0.1L at $26.

Aroochacha was 1L off on straightening but took over at the 200m & went home strongly to win by 2L in quick time from De Zane Grey with a further 2.3L back to 3rd. Went 4L quicker than the average of the day. Aroochacha was sent for a spell after this trial.

Saloon Bar sat off midfield & was 7L off on straightening then worked home stylishly under very gentle riding to run 2nd btn 0.7L behind Tiffany Street. Tiffany Street came out & won on debut following this trial. Saloon Bar has not been sighted since this trial as of the 4th July. Saloon Bar did debut later in the year behind Baby Paris where it was beaten 3L, but won at start #2 by 1L.

On The Full jumped quickly to lead easily, led by 1L on straightening & did it comfortably in the run home to win by 1.8L over Dangote in good time. Looks like it will win a race early in its career. On The Full won by half a length on debut paying $3.50

Our Insider is an ex Victorian horse who came to WA & won 2 races from 6 starts for Lindsey Smith at Northam & is now with Ken Nightingale who has ownership in the horse. Jumped ok but got caught wide in around 4th spot so moved up to sit outside the leader after a few hundred metres, was 1L off on straightening until Ben gave it a turn of the reins and it responded by taking over & was ridden gently in the run home to win by 0.1L from Yes Miss Jane in quick time with a further 6L back to 3rd. Can see this one winning a few at Geraldton this prep. Our Insider did absolutely nothing in the runs following this trial.

Nunes (pronounced 'Noon-ez') jumped ok but was snagged back to last from the wide gate, went searching for runs soon after straightening, got clear at the 200m and accelerated nicely under no riding to surge to the lead at the 100m & it cruised home under a hold to win by 0.1L in quick time from Rockon Molly who had been pushed out. Nunes has yet to break through as of the 4th July, 2022.

Playz With Fire was slowly away & stayed back near the tail until straightening then zoomed home along the fence under gentle riding when 2nd btn half a length behind The Velvet Queen in quick time with a further 2L back to 3rd. Was ridden quieter than the winner. Playz With Fire won at start number two at Pinjarra after this trial.

Left The Building is an Exceed And Excel colt who was snagged back to last in this trial from an wide-ish gate & was 7L off the lead early, same on straightening then unleashed an impressive turn of foot to hit the lead past the 200m & go onto win by 1.8L over Vampi At Play. Looks talented. Left The Building ran 3rd beaten a neck on debut in the Crystal Slipper behind Man Crush & Revitup after this trial but hasn't been seen since that race in mid November.

Itsatrap was 2L off until the 200m then accelerated quickly to grab the win in the shadows with the brakes applied in the final strides. Looks to have a nice turn of foot.

Fine Romance was 6L off in the run, worked home brilliantly under hands & heels riding to just miss when 2nd btn 0.1L behind My Baby Blue Jean. Looks above average. Fine Romance ran 2nd btn less than a length on debut after this trial then was tipped out for a spell.

Zaratite was around 1.5L off until turning, was 2L off on straightening but had gathered up the leader at the 250m and went home strongly under gentle riding to win by 2.3L from Friar The Gun in quick time over 1450m. Watch for it at 1500-1600m first up this prep & has the ability to jump up in distance quickly early in a prep. Zaratite ran 2nd at its next 4 starts after this trial.......

Celebrity Man was around 8L off on straightening & worked home under its own steam to run 2nd btn half a length behind Lady Facyniate & was well in front soon after the post. He will be winning a race sooner rather than later. Celebrity Man placed at his first 3 starts after this trial & finally broke through at start number four......

Giancana led by around 1L until straightening then cruised away under gentle riding to win by 3.8L from Smart Princess. Was only 2L off Chantorque at Listed level last prep and looks set to win early this prep. Giancana was horrendous in two runs following this trial & as a result is no longer a HTF.

Guard The Safe jumped really well but soon drifted back to be last & 6L off the lead in the run, still last at the 150m but was hitting the line the hardest in the final stages & was up with the winner 50m past the post. He's A Sizzler missed the start by at least 4L & didn't want to go early, settled at the tail 6L off them on settling, ran up bums to some degree in the run home but was doing some good work late. Guard The Safe has yet to make its debut as of mid March, and as such is no longer a HTF. He's A Sizzler has been disappointing in its two starts to date, despite a narrow 2nd on debut. It also no longer a HTF.

Spinalong Time was the worst away & veered out significantly from barrier 8, showed a lovely turn of foot from the 250m to round them up late. Looks to have plenty of ability. Spinalong Time has yet to make its debut as of mid March, and as such is no longer a HTF.

Antique Jewel sat midfield & wide but was jumping out of the ground over the final 100m when 3rd btn a neck behind Mystery Man in good time. Antique Jewel broke through on the 21st February at Ascot.

Sniparoochy led by around 1L until straightening but then started to gap them soon after to win by 4.8L from Shezaclassychix in quick time. This was clearly an impressive first trial from this 2yo and she looks a ready to run type. Sniparoochy won on debut at Bunbury on the 30th December 2020 by 5L.

Ultimate Command jumped average but soon booted through to take up the lead narrowly from stablemate Storm Whisper, these two cleared out in the straight with Ultimate Command doing the better work late under softer riding to win by half a length from SW in what was the quickest 2yo trial we can remember at Belmont for some years. Ultimate Command won on debut on the 5th December paying $5.50

Kimberley Boy sat on pace & was under a hold for the entirety of the straight yet despite that still ran down the leader (and stablemate) to win by 0.1L from Elite Time. Nice work. Kimberley Boy made its debut 10 days later where it ran 2nd btn 0.1L & as of the 9th January, 2021 it hasn't been seen again since & therefore is no longer a HTF.

Love Drunk Baby jumped quickly but then throttled back to midfield after being caught wide, was 6-7L off on straightening, ridden quietly until the 150m where it was given a few shoves & it responded by accelerating very quickly to round them up to win by half a length from Saigon Sizzler in quick time. That was a very nice turn of foot. Love Drunk Baby made its debut on the 12th November where it ran 3rd btn 1.4L & as of the 9th January, 2021 it hasn't been seen again since & therefore is no longer a HTF.

Wine Night jumped quickly to lead by 1L for the majority of the trial, Knuckey was swinging on it halfway down the straight & it was only given a few shoves over the final 50m to keep its mind on the job to win by half a length in quick time from the unbeaten Forgotten Jewel with a further 4L back to 3rd. This one looks to be flying. Wine Night scored a win upon resuming at Belmont on the 17th June.

La Morne sat off pace in the run, didn't see clear running until the 250m but accelerated nicely from the 200m to win by 1.5L from The Hawkeye. Should be winning a maiden early in its career by the looks. It was then tipped out for a spell after this trial and as such is no longer a HTF.

Apple Schnapps was one of the slower ones away but worked home strongly under gentle riding to run into a clear 2nd when 2nd btn half a length behind Even Magic. This was the third very good trial this prep for AS & it looks like a coming winner in the 2yo ranks. Apple Schnapps went terribly on debut after this trial and was immediately tipped out for a spell.

Dig Deep sat back near last in the run, was given a few shoves between the 300m & 400m & accelerated nicely to hit the lead in the finals stages as it essentially went home under its own steam late to win by 1L from Roberta in quick time. Dig Deep competed at the highest levels last prep & should find its opposition much easier this time around. Expect it to notch up a win or two early doors into this campaign. Dig Deep went terribly when resuming after this trial and was immediately tipped out for a spell.

Friday Knight jumped well & took over after 150m to show a very sharp turn of foot to absolutely gap them in very quick time despite having the brakes applied over the final 50m in this 400m trial. Super impressive first trial. Made them look like plodders. Friday Knight made his debut on the 12th of September 2020 at Belmont where he missed the start by 1L when 3rd btn 1L behind Brooklyn Pier. He did plenty wrong in the straight as well & looks like a coming winner.

Mystical View sat on pace & was ridden quietly until the 100m where it accelerated nicely to hit the line strongly over the concluding stages to run 2nd. Lovely debut trial from this 2yo filly. As of early June, Mystical View has yet to see race day & as such is no longer a horse to follow. (It then came out on the 24th June to win by 1.5L on debut).

Red Can Man wins this trial with ease following on from a trial win in early Feb. This son of Gingerbread Man was highly competitive in the 3yo black type races last prep - winning a Listed race and beaten a neck at Gr2 level. He looks to have come back in great order & looks ready to add to his tally of 3 wins from 8 starts. Red Can Man resumed with a win at Ascot on the 7th March, 2020.

Beret sat on pace, took over at the 200m & cruised home under its own steam to win by 1L in quickish time from Secondhand Man. It will be winning a maiden this prep. Beret broke through for his maiden win at Bunbury at his second start since this trial.

Barry's Choix was back last on straightening, got a run through the field at the 150m & went home strongly into 5th btn 2.5L behind Agent Jay. Looks to have enough ability to be winning a maiden. Barry's Choix had 1 start in January following this trial where it ran 8th at Bunbury. It was then tipped out for a spell and as such is no longer a HTF.

Elite Street sat back last until the 250m where it was maneuvered into open space & then displayed a very nice turn of foot from the 200m to hit the lead at the 100m and win by 1L from Call Again. Elite Street had 1 start following this trial where it was beaten half a length in Open 3yo company on the 30th November, 2019. It has since been tipped out and as a result is no longer a HTF.

Notorious One jumped midfield from a wide-ish gate but had worked its way up to join the leaders on turning, took over on straightening & kicked 3L clear, was kept going in the run to the line & got a smidge tired late but won by 2.2L in quickish time from Smoking Barrel. The Gangemi's have ownership in this one and it looks to have enough ability to be winning a maiden in the near future. Notorious One was sent for a spell following this trial and as a result is no longer a HTF.

This'll Testya led with Modelleraniul by around 6L on turning, dropped that horse off soon after straightening & procceeded to career away under its own steam to win by 6L in quick time from Run For Money. This'll Testya hasn't been seen since a similar trial in December last year (see the Old Horses To Follow page on December 3). It looks like a very talented horse who will break its maiden very quickly. This'll Testya won on debut at Bunbury on the 24th November 2019 by 4.5L paying $1.50 on all TAB's as well as Betfair SP.
